Replace fax machines with scanners
Remember that fax machines are making a telephone call. Faxing to long distance telephone numbers will incur a surcharge. You can save on the expense of faxing by scanning a document and sending it as an email attachment. Include a message to the client and a description of the attached document. This makes it easier to send a document directly to a specific person’s attention and to receive follow up information via email. Receiving an email response will confirm that your document was delivered, unlike faxes, which are unreliable at best. Eliminating a fax machine entirely will also save you on the cost of the machine, paper to print faxes and toner or ink cartridges.
